We Welcome Your Donations!

Wouldn't it be nice to donate to a charity and know the full donation went for the intended purpose?

EA is a non-profit charity specializing in residential treatment of children. While EA receives money from the State for the normal care of children placed in foster homes and small group homes, some special needs go unmet. Below are some examples of needs the State funding does not cover.

  • A teenage girl's teeth are not a health or medical problem, but she is understandably self-conscious about her obviously crooked teeth. She is suffering socially and needs braces.

  • A 14 year old boy lost his only pair of glasses and is not, by law, entitled to another pair for six months. He can get by, but his school work is suffering.

  • A 7 year old boy has reading difficulty. The optometrist believes that the problem can be corrected with vision training.

  • An 11 year old girl has a scar on her face. She was refused corrective surgery because it is an elective procedure rather than a medical emergency.

  • A teen boy is beyond control in public school and requires an on-grounds educational program. There is no money to build such a facility.

EA provides homes to about 500 children of all ages. It operates programs in 15 Northern California counties. These children are removed from their parents' home by juvenile courts. Some reasons for removal are substantial physical abuse, sexual molest, or delinquency. Money for the children's care is provided by the government. While the government reimburses EA for most costs, there are gaps in funding. Some examples are mentioned above. We ask for donations to help fund these and other special needs.

Many people would like to donate to a worthy charity, but are often shocked by how much of their donation actually goes toward the intended purpose. Most people tolerate a small portion of their donation going to administration or salaries, but are outraged when they discover a large amount went toward administration, advertising, or staff salaries. Since all those administration expenses are already paid for, your tax-exempt donation to EA will go 100% to its intended charitable purpose.

EA is licensed by the State of California to operate residential care facilities. It is also chartered as a tax-exempt corporation by California and recognized as a charitable corporation under IRS section 501c3. We are registered with California's Charitable Trust division, under the Secretary of State. EA has been in existence since 1981.
