Leadership Spotlight: Sara Bodenham

This month our Leadership Spotlight selection is our HR Supervisor, Sara Bodenham. Born and raised in Chico, Sara's background in farming and ranching instilled an early interest in agriculture. And although she originally set her sights on a future within that industry, after moving to Quincy she was hired as a temporary Office Manager at EA, changing the course of her life.

Are there experiences in your early life that have contributed to your success with EA?

I was raised with a strong work ethic and the belief that 'there's no such thing as Monday through Friday, 8-5.' I was also fortunate to be an avid 4-H member with hundreds of animals that relied on me putting their care first. I like challenges and having to think outside the box, which came in handy with farming.

What advice would you give to someone interested in working with youth in foster care?

The old saying that 'it takes a village to raise a child.' couldn't be more true in our industry. It takes all of our patience, compassion, and working together to achieve the success of our youth. We all contribute in various ways, whether we're directly or indirectly interacting with clients. There are definitely challenges, but it's so rewarding when we can help the youth.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work?

I'm an avid softball player, and I enjoy all water sports, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, camping, traveling, and making my coworkers birthday cakes.

What's something about you that would surprise most people?

My husband and I have five adult kids ranging from ages 28-35, and one granddaughter who's almost four. I love all the Harry Potter movies, I enjoy refurbishing old furniture, and I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan. I don't like scary movies, roller coasters, or pizza!

Anything else you'd like to add?

I've been with EA Family Services for the last 19 years, and I'm thankful for the friends and coworkers I have here. I want to thank everyone for all the amazing work they do, for making my job easier, and I've really had fun getting to know everyone.
