How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had? 

Five years. I started as a Social Worker in the Sacramento office—I learned so much and enjoyed it. After having my son in 2019, I transitioned to being a stay-at-home mom for a bit. As fate and luck would have it, I was hired back with EA in the CalAIM department in 2022. I am truly grateful to work for EA!

What originally made you want to work with EA?

I had just graduated with my Master's and I really wanted to work in the field of social work. I originally wanted to work with younger kiddos, but was hired on as a THP social worker. It was a little out of my comfort zone at first but, I learned to truly love the job.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like.

The best day on the job is a day where I am able to witness member and staff success. I am fortunate to have a position where I am able to see the hard work of our staff truly come to life. It is so inspiring to see a member go from a tough and challenging position to being able to move into an apartment with the help of our staff. I am able to see the whole process come full circle and it is incredible.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

It is important to celebrate people's success. It is important to acknowledge that success for everyone might look different, and that is okay. Our members are working through many struggles and it is important to celebrate their ability to overcome and their drive to succeed.

How do you practice self care?

I play basketball with my son. I also am fortunate to help coach his baseball team. Being able to witness his passion, enjoyment and commitment is something I truly enjoy. He reminds me every day we get home, "remember Mama, you promised we can practice basketball rain or shine"—I live for those little moments!

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?
