Employee of the Month: Kyle Hogan

Kyle Hogan

This month we're pleased to feature Social Worker Kyle Hogan as our Employee of the Month.

What originally made you want to work with EA?
I was fresh out of graduate school and moved to the Sacramento area from the east coast in 2017. I knew that I wanted to work for an organization that was making an impact in the community. I was so impressed with EA's commitment to improving the lives of children and young adults.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like:
So I spend a lot of my time working with individuals going through the pre-approval process to become Resource Families. My favorite day is when I have the opportunity to notify a family to let them know they have been approved to become foster parents. It is a very special moment.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?
There are so many opportunities to make a positive impact in a young person's life while working in this field. Two important lessons I have learned in my role as a social worker is to think outside the box when looking for solutions and to get out my comfort zone. It is such a rewarding career!

How do you practice self care?
For me, singing greatly reduces stress. Those who know me well, know that I love to laugh. After a long day, I can usually be found watching one of my favorite funny t.v. shows.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?
I love to cook. Not only is it another method of self-care, but I enjoy having get-togethers and cooking a big meal for my guests. Ask me about about my artichoke dip!

Anything else you'd like to add?
I am proud to work for an organization that is making such a difference in the lives of foster youth who are in need of a loving and supportive home. Go EA!
