Employee of the Month: Esmeralda Ramos, Case Manager
How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had?
Just over a year. I've been a Case Manager, Social Work Assistant and Translator.
What originally made you want to work with EA?
I had never heard of EA until I applied, when I found out I would be working with the Transitional Housing Program I thought it would be exciting, and every day would be different (I was very right). I also liked how the work culture sounded during the interview and liked the flexibility EA offered.
Describe what your best day on the job looks like:
The best day on the job is when no emergencies are going on and when I'm able to help my clients feel comfortable, confident, and supported. I feel like their success is my success.
What do you wish people knew about working in your field?
I wish people knew all the different roles we get to be working in this field. As a case manager, we are counselors, mentors, and a friend, sometimes I feel like a parental figure as well. Every day is different and never goes as planned. It is great when you can rely on your office to help you out, we always have to work as a team and juggle things as they come up.
How do you practice self care?
I practice self-care by enjoying quality time with my family and going out with my best friend for some girl time. I enjoy cuddling up with my husband and daughter and having movie nights on the weekends. I also love being outdoors and playing sports. I play indoor soccer and co-ed softball occasionally when they are in season and love to get together on weekends with all my family to play volleyball.
What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?
I don't know if it’s considered a hidden talent but I can pick up a lot of things with my toes, if they are small enough. I also clean when I'm stressed and it does seem to make me happier after.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I'd like to say I have an amazing team in the Yuba City office and I'm glad I get to work around so many great people. Thank you to EA and my supervisor Jeanne for having me as employee of the month, I truly appreciate this.
