Employee of the Month: Scott Cash

What originally made you want to work with EA? Scott Cash, Case Manager

The most attractive thing about working with EA was the opportunity to assist people in need. The opportunity to work with a great team was the selling point for me. I could not do my job without the fantastic people I work with. We bridge relationships.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like:

As Case Managers we evaluate care options and facilitate the best ways to meet an individual’s mental and physical health. Additionally, we strive for holistic client well-being by identifying providers and advocating for services that are cost-effective for the client. Through this process of assessment, linking, advocacy, treatment planning and monitoring we can explore new avenues for independence.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

Emotional fatigue is a real thing. Our job is not exactly easy, though it is extremely rewarding. We have many responsibilities. There are a lot of hurts in this world and it requires hard work and dedication to do what we do. We enjoy helping others, though there is an amount of stress and difficult conversations that we must handle with care.

How do you practice self care?

Personally, exercise is a massive part of my self-care. I used to think it was cliché when people told me that exercise could help dissipate stress. But it does and utilizing the coping mechanisms that I teach clients, it helps manage my mental well-being. I do art, and I journal. I play guitar and spend time with my kids. Camping and water are also good resets for me.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?

It always surprises people when they come over, and I cook for them. I don't know where this talent comes from, but I've been told that I am a gourmet chef without a degree.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Honestly, I am humbled by the choice for employee of the month. Though I do not feel I can take credit for it. The team that I work with is a fantastic group of people. Without them, I would not be able to do what I do. I cannot express my appreciation for your dedication and hard work to my immediate team and those who have worked with me since being hired. You all are amazing, and thank you for everything you do.
