Employee of the Month: Amberly Sabado

Amberly Sabado - December Employee of the MonthWhat originally made you want to work with EA?

I began my EA journey in 2018 as a social worker intern and was quickly introduced to the family environment and amazing work EA does with youth and families. EA’s mission aligns with my personal vision to create and attain success while uplifting and inspiring the individuals I work with. I was hired on as a Case Manager and promoted to Social Worker after completing my MSW from Simmons University last year. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities and professional growth EA has given me.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like:

Best days on the job include the following: the ever-so special Dutch Bros delivery by my wonderful office manager, checking in and collaborating with my amazing co-workers at the EA Sacramento office, working with my THP clients to meet their goals, and bringing prospective families into our EA family!

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

If someone told my 20-year old self I would become a social worker, I would have laughed in their face! I was a recruiter in the mortgage industry when the field of social work found me. The opportunities continued so frequently, I eventually acknowledged social work was calling me. I wish my younger self and people knew the impact of the social work field! Social workers create change, call for social justice, and instill hope and healing in our communities. The work can be challenging yet it is so meaningful.

How do you practice self care?

I practice self care by enforcing work boundaries and taking space from my job. I enjoy getting my nails done, spending time with my circle, and practicing yoga.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?

I’m a secret crafter and planner nerd.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I want to express gratitude to the EA leadership team and EA Sacramento office for going above and beyond in the work we do together. I appreciate what each of you do and who you are. Wishing everyone a joyous and safe holiday season!
