For many parents and caregivers, it can be difficult to decide whether camp is right for their kids. I originally applied because I enjoy working with children, everyday I get to be part of the children’s life and it is a wonderful feeling.

The brilliant and insightful author and activist, Maya Angelou, once said, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” As professionals who work in the field of foster care, we likely know the truth and importance of this quote and the resilience it represents. Though our work is, at times, punctuated by challenges, discouragements, and road blocks, there are many successes that keep us in the ring for another round.
