Employee of the Month: Reggie Vargas
Meet EA Maintenance Technician Reggie Vargas
How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had?
10 years, and it will be 11 years in February. During my time, I have worked as a Maintenance Technician-THP. With this role, I have been able to travel to all the offices and apartment complexes to help staff and our THP clients.
What originally made you want to work with EA?
Moving from self-employed HVAC work to a position here at EA has been incredibly rewarding. Navigating the unpredictable nature of independent work ultimately led me to EA as well as the encouragement from Tim. This decision was absolutely the right fit for me.
Describe what your best day on the job looks like.
The best day on the job would be doing an easy repair with no surprises. Another great day would be going into the offices and doing my paperwork with no missing receipts, especially when I am there during lunch time! It is always great to go in and socialize and bond with all the staff.
What do you wish people knew about working in your field?
It is rewarding to be able to connect with the clients and teach them how to do repairs. This may seem like a simple task, but when the client ages out, they will have this new skill set to fix/repair something in the future and not have to rely on someone else.
How do you practice self care?
I practice self-care by riding my motorcycle and fishing. The two wheels are for the freedom of the open road, while a rod and reel by the water is for the peace.
What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?
Something that might surprise most people, is that I was Santa for our Christmas party. Another thing that might surprise people is that I am coaching little-league football for my grandkids. My pride and joy is being able to spend quality time with my boys and my grandkids.
Anything else you'd like to add?
EA is really like family, this agency has done so much for me.
