Foster Parents & Families
Providing safety, support, and hope.
The dedicated individuals we rely on to provide foster care—known as Resource Parents— open their hearts and homes to youth in need.
Fostering with EA
EA is a fully-insured California foster agency. We connect caring individuals and families with children who need a nurturing and dependable environment.
By offering resources, education, and personalized support, the program helps foster families provide meaningful care during important stages of a child’s life. EA Family Services emphasizes partnership, stability, and community to help children and families thrive together.
After expressing interest in becoming a foster/resource parent, our social workers reach out to guide the applicant through our screening process.
Many of our foster families come to us as referrals from current foster parents, which acts as an initial level of screening.
In addition to the standard background check, fingerprint index clearance and home safety inspections, we also conduct one-on-one interviews, training (individual and group), and an independent study program.
What makes fostering at EA different?
We know that the most valuable thing we can do is to empower foster parents with the tools and knowledge they need.
To accomplish this, our highly trained social workers perform weekly home visits to provide guidance and support to the family and ensure the well-being and stability of the family as a whole. Our foster family program provides a variety of services and referrals.

Typical Participant Journey
After expressing interest in fostering, we’ll contact you to initiate a three-step process of screening, training, and placement.
Screening
An EA social worker will come to your home to help walk you through paperwork and answer questions. Our goal is to help you be extremely knowledgeable about the process and to manage your expectations. We also conduct background checks, health screenings, and other measures to ensure placement will be successful for everyone involved.
Training
Our pre-approval training is conducted over multiple sessions and covers a wide variety of topics. We'll discuss safety issues, educational needs, child abuse identification and prevention, possible effects of trauma, positive discipline, how to work with the birthparents, and many more.
Placement
We work closely with you to ensure the child placed in your care will thrive within your home environment. After getting to know your family, and any preferences you might have on the age, gender, etc. of the foster child, we can assess the characteristics of children who would succeed in your home.
