Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP)

Providing structured care & support for youth in need.

EA provides Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs) focused on stabilization for complex trauma and behavioral health needs, delivering trauma-informed care and integrated therapeutic support for youth with higher-level needs.

What is a STRTP?

Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs) are licensed residential treatment programs in California that provide supervision, care, and therapeutic support for youth with higher-level needs.

Our programs are designed for youth at risk of hospitalization or placement disruption, offering a structured and supportive environment where emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs can be safely addressed.

Our treatment approach

Our approach emphasizes individualized care, trauma-informed practices, and relationship-based support.

Staff work closely with youth to build trust, strengthen relationships, and develop the emotional and practical skills needed for long-term stability. Care is delivered within a structured environment that promotes consistency, accountability, and positive behavioral growth while preparing youth for transition to less restrictive settings.

Unsure if STRTP is the right move? Consider Wraparound services first.

Who may be placed

Youth placed in our STRTP programs typically include those who are:

  • Needing structured residential care and supervision

  • Transitioning from other placements and requiring stabilization

  • Referred through county child welfare or probation systems

  • Experiencing behavioral or emotional needs requiring therapeutic support

Placements & referrals

Referrals for STRTP placements are typically made through county child welfare agencies, probation departments, or other authorized placing partners.

EA intake staff collaborate with referring partners to review placement needs, assess availability, and match each youth with the most appropriate program.
