Meet EA Foster Parents Athena & Doug

How long have you been a foster parent, and how long have you been with EA? 

We have been foster parents since 2020, and all has been with EA.

What motivated you to become a foster parent?

Doug and I really wanted to help youth, especially teenagers because they are more challenging. We wanted to open our home to give them love and guidance.

Can you share some challenges you have faced as a foster parent?

Some of the challenges have been trust, manners, social media, and substance use.

What advice can you give to new foster parents?

When going through challenges, Doug and I like to ask each other,  "How would we treat our own children?" and begin by taking that approach.

What do you like most about being a foster parent?

Helping kids achieve their goals. The best feeling is watching them be able to reunite with their natural parents or family.
