Meet EA Housing Coordinator Rebekah Duncan

rebekah duncan and family

How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had?

11 months. I am a Housing Coordinator. I assist youth in finding housing and moving them in.

What originally made you want to work with EA?

I was drawn to EA because I wanted a career with purpose—work I could feel fulfilled in and know I was making a difference. I've always enjoyed working with youth, and supporting young people as they transition out of foster care and felt meaningful and aligned with my values. EA's mission immediately resonated with me, and I knew it was a place where I could contribute in a meaningful way.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like.

My best day is when I'm able to support a youth in taking a positive step forward: finding housing, overcoming a barrier, or simply showing up for them and helping them feel genuinely supported.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

I wish people knew that working in this field is much more than providing services. It's about building trust, showing up consistently, and meeting young people where they are. Everyone's journeys are different, and no two look the same. The work requires patience, creativity, and empathy.

How do you practice self care?

I practice self-care by spending quality time with my husband and my three children. I also enjoy taking a moment to myself to get a massage, pedicure, or to read a good book.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?

Many people are surprised to learn that I've volunteered internationally in Nicaragua and Culiacan, Mexico, working in orphanages, supporting under-resourced communities, and helping build homes. Those experiences had a lasting impact on me and drive me to seek meaningful work.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I feel grateful to do work that aligns so closely with my values and allows me to show up with both professionalism and compassion.
