Employee of the Month: Nichole Harvey, Social Worker

What originally made you want to work with EA? Nichole Harvey

I was intrigued by the idea of working with children and being of service to my local community in a meaningful way. Having worked for large, national companies and municipalities in the past, working for a local non-profit was appealing to me as well.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like:

My best day on the job includes visiting with kiddos who are thriving in their current placements, finding solutions and connecting families with resources to meet kids' needs, and witnessing successful reunification with parents who have worked hard on their case plan and received the help they need in order to provide safe, stable, and loving homes for their children.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

Children, especially teenagers, are not always ready to accept the love of a good foster family and embrace a new life with new people right away.

How do you practice self care?

Spending quality time with my family, journaling, and enjoying the outdoors. I also attend church and am active in church life and community events.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?

I can play the oboe as well as the alto and tenor saxophones.

Anything else you'd like to add?

I love how supportive and family-like EA is, and I feel like I'm right where I'm meant to be and working with the people—both coworkers and foster families—with whom I'm meant to work!!
