Employee of the Month: Alexis Nichols, STRTP Mental Health Clinician
How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had?
Almost 8 years. I've been an STRTP Facility Manager, STRTP Rehab Specialist, and now Clinician.
What originally made you want to work with EA?
To be completely honest, it was random. When I was in college I needed a job, and with experience working with children, I applied without really knowing what an STRTP was. I went through the interview, took a chance, and accepted the job—not expecting it to be something I’d stick with long-term. But I ended up loving it. The kids are some of the most incredible individuals to work with, and the team at Nighthawk has been a huge part of why I’ve stayed.
What do you wish people knew about working in your field?
STRTP staff are the backbone of a challenging but deeply meaningful environment, providing stability and support to youth who have experienced significant trauma. Their work requires patience, resilience, and the ability to manage complex situations while maintaining structure and safety. Every role—whether direct care, mental health, or administration—plays a vital part in helping these kids grow and heal. While the dedication of STRTP staff can sometimes go unnoticed, their impact is undeniable, creating positive change in ways that aren’t always immediately visible. They deserve all the appreciation, recognition, and thanks for the work they do every day—I couldn’t do my job without the incredible team I work with.
