Employee of the Month: Sydney Johnson, Office Manager

How long have you been with EA? What roles have you had? sydney johnson

Almost 5 years. During my time with EA, I have had the privilege of seeing the agency through different roles. I started with EA as a Transporter, then moved up to Office Assistant and Visitation Monitor, and then to my current role as an Office Manager. With these different roles, I have been able to see the unique perspective on how different positions contribute to the office's overall success.

What originally made you want to work with EA?

I originally wanted to work with EA because I heard about the flexible schedule. At the time, I had another job, so being able to come and work at EA after just made sense. I enjoy working with children, and I enjoy driving, so being a Transporter was a great fit.

Describe what your best day on the job looks like.

The best day on the job is when we start with "Office Tetris" - a lot of moving pieces, shifting priorities, and a bit of crazy, and by the end of the day, everything has flawlessly fallen into place. Another big win for me in the office is when I remember to "print release" before walking over to the printer.

What do you wish people knew about working in your field?

Something I wish people knew about working in this field of Foster Care is that it's not heartbreaking. While there are hard days, I wish people knew how much joy and resilience we see. It's not about just helping kids but supporting families, celebrating small milestones, and seeing the incredible transformation in our clients.

How do you practice self care?

I practice self-care by shopping for handcrafted jewelry (silver & turquoise). I also enjoy getting myself an iced cold Red Bull and walking the aisles in an antique store. I also enjoy spending time with my many animals, especially my bull, Douglas.

What's a hidden talent you have, or something about yourself that would surprise most people?

Something that may surprise most people is that I can't spell to save my life, so I am very thankful for spell check and voice-to-text.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Getting to work with a great agency like EA with important values means a lot to me. I also get the great pleasure of working with some amazing people. I am honored to be chosen as the Employee of the Month for February. I will not let my newfound fame go to my head, but, for the remainder of the month, you may refer to me in all the emails as "The Chosen One".
